de-generationx.net closed

In 2004, de-generationx.net began to get used by spammers in the From: addresses of their spams. These spams were not originated from, or in anyway assosciated with, de-generationx.net.

Unfortunately, these spammers were using their spam to spread messages that were espousing an extreme view of a particular political subject that was the cause of significant problems in Germany at the time. People started replying back to de-generationx.net with a rather angry tone and quite a few threats.

As such, it was deemed better to take the site down and to block emails to or from this domain until the flood passed and the feelings were alleviated. However, since then, spammers have started using the domain for other types of spam mail. Thus, I have decided to keep this domain offline. I have also blocked all email from de-generationx.net by enabling SPF records in the DNS records of the domain, as well as adding the domain to several common blacklists.

If you get email from this domain that is not verifiably signed with a GPG digital signature, then I strongly recommend that you delete the email immediately as spam. However, I can safely say that there will be no such emails as I have deleted all previous mail boxes on the domain and do not allow any mail host, not even the mail server setup as the MX host for de-generationx.net to be a trusted source for mail from the domain.

If you are getting significant amounts of spam still, you can let me know by using the Contact form on this website. There is a Contact link on every page on this site. If you do not wish to use that form, then my suggestion to you is to blacklist the domain entirely in your spam filters. It won’t hurt my feelings at all. I haven’t been able to use the domain for general email in quite a few years now.

I really am sorry if the spam is causing you problems. Unfortunately, beyond what I have already done, there is really nothing further that can be done as far as I am aware. I will gladly accept suggestions if people have any other ideas. If you do not already, I strongly suggest you implement SPF checking on your mail server as that is one of the best methods we have at this time for limiting the amount of spam that is out there.
