Clinton talks of assassination
After some of her previous comments, how can anyone not take this as a veiled assassination threat? Given many of her other remarks that have come across as racist, this time it sounds like she’s inviting some whack job out there to do something completely foolish in California.
Clinton was asked during a meeting with the editorial board of the Argus Leader newspaper in Sioux Falls, S.D., about continuing to run despite long odds of winning the nomination. She said that while the media and Obama’s campaign have urged her to withdraw, “historically, that makes no sense.”
“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right?” she continued. “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”
Clinton Sorry For Remark About RFK Assassination – Washington Post
With Senator Kennedy only just out of hospital, thats a pretty inconsiderate thing to be saying.
Now, in fairness, she has retracted this statement and apologised for it to both the Kennedy family and to Senator Obama. But the thought is already out there and the seed has been planted in someone’s mind. I’m sure.
If you’re on the campaign trail for the most powerful position in the Western world and you make an offhand comment like this, how can you be trusted to not make similar stupid remarks if you managed to get the position you’re after?
Whats interesting, Ron Paul is still winning massive amounts of votes in the Republican Primaries. If it were possible, I’d much prefer he were the nominated candidate. Unfortunately, Old Man McCain probably won’t let old age consume him soon enough for that to happen.
