MeeboMe chat widget added
I know that some of you really wish you could chat with me, but the fact that I’m only regularly available on a single IM network now days limits your options.
So I added a MeeboMe chat widget to the sidebar that will allow you to chat with me when I’m online, and leave me a message when I’m offline. Its a full IM client, but you don’t have to sign up to use it. Just start typing away. You can set a nickname to let me know who I’m talking to, or you can just leave it as the random one the client uses when you open a page on this site.
I am also working on adding a complete chatroom to this site. Again using Meebo to provide it. There are some initial teething issues I’m trying to sort out, but I will provide a link to it in the not too distant future for people to start helping me test it. The chatroom will be accessible from a page on this website, and also from inside Meebo itself.
I do still prefer people contact me on Google Talk, but Meebo is also acceptable if I am not on your Google Talk list. Given I’m pretty picky about who I do add to my Google Talk list, I’m expecting this chat widget (and maybe the chatroom) to become more popular in the future.
If you are a Meebo user, get in touch with me if you’d like to add me to your user list there. I use Gaim/Pidgin to access Meebo most of the time (Meebo uses a Jabber backend) so I’m often on there.
