Searchless Google Reader getting very annoying
I love Google Reader. As do most of you that subscribe to this site. I’ve been using it for so long now, back before it got the interface overhaul it has now, except for a short excursion to Bloglines. However, I’m really starting to find one missing feature of Google Reader rather annoying. Google Reader really needs it and if it doesn’t get it, I might start considering alternative Feed readers again.
The simple fact is, for a search engine company to provide a product that doesn’t offer search features is just damn stupid and short sighted of them. The fact that its a product as popular as Google Reader makes you wonder what they’re thinking.
Sure, we can see trends of our reading activities and now we can read the most recent 2000 articles offline thanks to Google Gears. But when I’m trying to find an article I know exists from last year sometime, making me scroll through all the feed’s articles to get to that one article is just down right annoying and frustrating. Its like finding a needle in a haystack. In fact, its gotten to the point where I’m actually considering exporting my OPML list and using Bloglines to find this damn article.
Google Reader NEEDS search capabilities. Its lack of search is a HUGE mistake on the part of the Google Reader team. Big enough that its starting to become a deal breaker for me. :-/ That sucks to because in every other way, Google Reader is an outstanding product.
Please Google!!! Let us search through our feeds!!!
