I have a heap of drafts that I’ve started over the past week, and just never really felt like finishing. To be honest, when you spend all night listening to the news and talkback radio stations in the car while you’re doing your job through a 13 hour shift, you get to the point where you suffer media fatigue rather quickly.

So I don’t feel like talking about media stuff lately. Lets chat…

We don’t have Sky Digital (or UHF) at home any more, so I can’t watch the F1 or the news channels, or Discovery or anything else that is only available on Sky Digital. But to be honest, I really don’t miss that. In fact, I’m working so much lately that I rarely ever watched TV. And when I am at home, chances are I’m spending time with that special someone whenever I can.

Do you ever get to that point yourself? Where everything has just become so saturated or sensationalised that you’re not interested in participating in any of it? I mean, from the US we’re getting flooded with election junk, more than a year out from the elections themselves. In New Zealand the housing market and the economy, Fiji and a few other topics (such as the Muliaga family) are flooding our air waves. Scary as it is, about the only thing that interests me of late is the last 5-10 minutes of TVNZ news. And thats because I work at night, out in the weather.

Speaking of which, its nice to see that there is a nice big Antarctic storm moving up the country just as I’m about to start a new shift period. :-| Yeah, I’m looking forward to that one.

I see Google got their way against Microsoft and Vista. How lovely for them. Of course, thats not quite that big compared to the latest Yahoo! rumour.

Oh, and the iPhone apparently has amazing battery life and will play YouTube videos. I guess having a board member as the CEO of Google doesn’t hurt in the slightest.

Sorry, I’m just bored of all the junk flying around at the moment. I mean, I had this big long post about whats happening in the Middle East. Palestinian vs Palestinian. Lebanon vs Israel. Hamas vs Israel. Syria vs Lebanon. Turkey vs Iraq. Iran vs the US. Not to mention the Chinese vs US spat thats starting to escalate quite significantly.

But then I got distracted before I finished all these posts, and looking back, I really just can’t be bothered finishing them. I mean, do we really care that the West Bank and Gaza are now effectively two separate states under two separate Governments? Do we really care that Iran is threatening to use Oil as a way of keeping the US from attacking them, politically or militarily. Do we really care that Chinese products are now becoming so toxic that they’re being sent back, and that in retaliation, the Chinese are making bogus claims of, and sending back, western products being shipped to China?

Hell no. I’m more concerned about the storm and how cold this “below freezing” wind chill is going to affect me at work over the next week. I’m more concerned about my brothers fight with Watercare to get them to pony up the cash after their burst mains in Penrose flooded his workshop and effectively put him out of business for the past week. I’m more concerned about my immediate life.

And the weird part of all this is that I’ve not been able to publicly post about a lot of the events in my private life for the past few months now. Thats going to change. But it will start to happen on a different blog. This one is far too open and public and so very well known. It is a little frightening how many people actually search for me on the various search engines. I don’t mean topics I post about, but actually searching for me. I don’t exactly make it hard, but still… ;-)

There is one Comcast client that visits my site from either PA or NJ (the IP belongs in NJ, but the hostname says PA) and neither Brooke nor I can figure out who it is. I have a suspicion, but I haven’t spoken to that person in a few years now. If its you, please say hello. :-) You don’t have to do it publicly in the comments. You can use the contact page to send me a private email.

I should probably say a whole lot more, but I think I’m going to go back to working on the code I’ve been trying to finish before work starts again. Unfortunately my latest addition to this site won’t be ready before I start a new week of work, so you’ll have to wait until next week at the earliest I’m afraid.

Well, thats not entirely true. The main logic of the application is finished… Now the hard part is going through and making it look respectable ;-)

Still, I’m not prepared to make waves about it till I’ve finished it. Needless to say though, its actually a damn good start. And once the main application is finished to my liking, I’ll open it up to all. After than I intend to start working on a few ancillary things that build on top of it. :-)

Anyway, enough from me. Sleep awaits. Long week ahead.
