The Beast Within
I don’t know many people that don’t enjoy a nice steak or other form of bovine dish. The only vegetarians I knew were while I was working at Datacom and for the most part, because I like meat, we didn’t often eat together for lunch or at company functions. Can’t blame them. I guess anyone who is truly vegetarian (or vegan) might find it rather disgusting to watch another person take great pleasure eating something that, until recently, was walking in a paddock going “Moo” or possibly “Baaah.”
However, while I enjoy my steaks medium rare, I have never (to my knowledge at least) eaten raw beef or pork or lamb/mutton. I limit my raw meat to fish from this nice little sushi bar down in Mission Bay (among others.) Having said that, there is one dish that does sound interesting, but after reading this story, I think I might start considering a well done steak from now on. ;-)
The doctor, no longer chuckling, asked me to please sit down so he could tell me how to get rid of it. I came crashing down to sit on the chair, blathering, “How do I kill it? What’s it take, doc? Where’s the bullet? Give me a pill, do tricks! Make it go away!”
I was leaning forward, my nails scrabbling on his desk. Some sort of living thing was eating with me, sleeping with me, sharing my childhood traumas without my permission, and was with me during those intimate moments when I achieved orgasms, with or without a consenting partner. How embarrassing.
This is a great read. So well told and so amusing. Even if you’re squeamish and easily grossed out, you’ll enjoy the telling of this story.
Having a dog in the house and at the workshop, we regularly have to pop a pill to ensure we’re not harbouring fugitives or taking on hitch hikers. I can’t say I’ve ever encountered one yet, but who knows what might happen in future.
So what are your parasite stories?
