Labour says "Not gonna pay it back"
Fully not surprised, but can the opposition force the issue and get a vote of no confidence passed in the house? Would the Greens tow the line on this one? What about the moral standards of the United Future party?
Labour will not pay back money the Auditor-General decided had been illegally spent because it did not believe it had done anything wrong, Cabinet Minister Pete Hodgson said today.
Mr Hodgson was asked today on National Radio whether Labour would pay back money on election campaign advertising the Auditor-General found to be unlawful.
“No, we won’t pay the money back,” Mr Hodgson said.
If they get away with this, I think I’ll go live with Brooke in the US. As much as I may not agree with the Foreign policy of the US Government, at least they’re subtle about their corruption. They don’t flaunt it and wave it in peoples faces.
Parliament is in recess right now, but I’m really hoping that the opposition use this as more than just a chance to throw soft jabs and actually come up with the knock out punch.
Lets recap. We have the Unions bullying business. We have MPs illegally getting immigrants in the country on work visas in exchange for services. We have a health system in such dire straights that an unprecidented number of doctors at the Cantabury health system (around 80-90%) wrote an open letter to the Government telling them just how bad their policy is making things. We have radiographers striking because of the conditions.
We have a Prime Minister who openly makes disparaging remarks about the US led war in Iraq… On September 11. We have a Deputy Prime Minister that takes all our money, runs a record surplus yet still refuses to return any of that money back to the people.
Oh, and we have a Minister of Foreign Affairs who is not even a part of the Cabinet!!!
For fucks sake people. What more do evidence do we need that our Government is pushing shit uphill with their chins?
We need a vote of no confidence against the Government and a new election. Otherwise, this country is screwed. Less than a year after the last general election, our Government has proven beyond a doubt that its corrupt. And those of you that voted for the current parties that make up the Government should be well and truly ashamed of yourselves.
