HAHAHA :-) Yeah, this actually made me laugh. :-)

A young couple’s dream of settling in New Zealand after emigrating from Britain is in tatters after the woman was mailed a birthday present – the class A drug cocaine.

Lynsey Claire Reader, 26, originally from Croydon in south London, is serving a three-month jail sentence imposed in the High Court at Christchurch after the two envelopes containing the drug were intercepted.

She has never been in trouble before. She was described in court as being naive and she certainly misjudged New Zealand’s border controls.

I’m sorry, but if you’re going to live in New Zealand, there are somethings you just have to source in New Zealand for yourself. Sure, the gang tax is kinda high, but its better than a friend sending you a letter or two that lands you in gaol. :-)

Sorry, no sympathy here. I think its pretty universal that drugs like this are illegal almost everywhere. Maybe some parts of Africa might turn a blind eye. She’s just damn lucky she’s not in somewhere like Thailand or any other part of Asia. Cocaine would’ve probably landed her in prison for at least 20 years, maybe even longer (if not the firing squad) and there is no right of appeal.

If you wanna do drugs, be at least mildly smart about it. Buy it from the gangs or other contacts. At least then you’re less likely to be caught than a laced envelope through Customs. ;-)
