Driver of the day: Webber

For once, I wasn’t screaming for Trulli to get off the track. In fact, I was shouting at him to hurry up and get in front of Alonso. Oh well. Maybe next race.

Masa performed brilliantly. Running guard the whole race. Not that he really needed to do anything though. Ferarri showed true form of old. Schumacher basically just had to drive his own race and do what he does best. I liked that both Masa and Schumacher let Ralph through to unlap himself. It shows just how confident they were and that they really felt absolutely no pressure at all.

Kimi sucks. I wanted Webber on the #3 podium spot. Oh well. Doesn’t matter in the end I guess. Webber still has a car that truly sucks. Will they get it sorted out at all? Not likely this season. Still, regardless of all that, I was VERY glad Button didn’t get the podium finish. I don’t care how young he is. He needs to admit defeat as Montoya did and bugger off to some other code. It’d be damn expensive for Honda, but maybe they should put Button back to the #3 driver and have him just testing cars for a while.

I’m starting to get a little disillusioned by Rosberg. He started the season so well, but he just doesn’t seem able to maintain the performance through the rest of the season. Don’t get me wrong, I still like him and I really think that if he doesn’t let it go to his head like Button and Alonso, he could really go far in the F1. But he needs to settle down a bit and drive his own race, not push to be like his father just yet. Let that come with experience.

How pissed off must Fisichella have to have been to know that he could’ve gotten more points than he did, but because of the championship, he had to run block for Alonso? When Alonso went off the track near the end, and Fisi still didn’t pass him, you have to wonder just how things really are going for them right now. Renault’s tyre issues are definitely going to be an interesting problem for them to overcome. The bubbling on the rear tyres is a major, but its still just an excuse for them right now. They’ve got hotter tracks to race on coming up soon. Theres only so much you can blame on Michelin before people get tired of it.

This final shootout for the championship is really going to be nail biting stuff. The fact that Schumacher only has to win from here on out is really going to be weighing on Alonso’s mind now. He has to run perfect races and he has to win all of them as well. He cannot drop a single race now. But can he do it? My observation is that he can’t handle things too well when there is a new (or as good as new) car under him. He’s gotten so much in the groove with the old setup that this new setup is totally foreign to him. What does that suggest about his move next year? ;-)

Will he be another Button and constantly bitch about the team and the car? ;-) Guess we’ll find out soon enough. :-)

If Schumacher doesn’t take the championship this year, I think he’ll stay with Ferarri one more year. He has already firmly entrenched himself as one of the greatest, if not The greatest, drivers of all time. I think that a really tight championship like this will bother him to lose. On the flipside, if he wins it he’ll be able to go out with a bang and retire the champion. ;-)

Personally I’m expecting him to remain for at least one more season no matter which way the championship ends up going. Consider this though. Would you want to retire after conceeding 2 season championships to some snot nosed 25yo with a god complex? ;-)

Okay, enough from me. I’m too tired to be bothered writing anymore right now. Laters all.
