What is the maximum allowed noise level?
Ian pointed this out to me today. I’d heard about it on the radio earlier, but Ian found the page on the LTNZ site that details the new changes.
New measures to combat noisy car exhausts are just weeks away from hitting the streets.
A gazette notice has been issued allowing the introduction of an objective test for measuring exhaust noise levels.
Transport Safety Minister Harry Duynhoven says the test will come into force in three weeks time, and once the equipment arrives and testers have been trained, it will be full steam ahead.
Okay, now go to this page on the LTNZ site and tell me where it tells you what noise level they will be measuring to? There is no dB listed there as being the upper limit. Is it 80dB? 100dB? 120dB?
My old man runs a compliance centre in Penrose. Its the workshop I always mention. Will be heading over there shortly, so will see if they have any information about the new levels.
