Sorry Angelina, but after seeing the new Lara Croft, you’re definitely not my pick for the role ever again.

Can you say HOT! Absolutely Gorgeous! This has to be the best pick I have seen of a new Lara.

Even better, she’s a real English born and bred specimen.

Boys (and girls I guess) ;-) I would like you all to meet Karima Adebibe, a 20 year old model from Bethnal Green, London. Karima was cast from thousands of hopefuls in an international search to fill the shoes of Hollywood’s biggest female game character.

Karima, a self confessed tomboy and sales assistant, will embark on a training programme which includes an SAS survival, combat and semi automatic weapon firing course in Eastern Europe and a crash course in world archaeology, deportment, elocution and etiquette lessons in order to portray Lady Lara Croft, the 11th generation Countess, archaeologist and action heroine.

Once completely trained, Karima will be lining up a host of international modelling assignments, TV commercials and chat shows and is set to be travelling the globe for the next two years.

Personally I’d love to see her in the next Tomb Raider movie. If she can act, that’d be absolutely fantastic. Of all the previous Lara’s, she is by far and away the best yet. Mind you, I’m a male under 30 and I guess that is their initial target audience. ;-) However, in this case I think everyone will agree that any straight male under 120 will probably feel pretty much the same way. ;-)

You can understand quite simply that anyone would be absolutely over the moon getting this kind of role. You’re basically putting yourself up as competition against Angelina Jolie, and in this case I think the Karima is mostly definitely far more Lara-ish than Angelina has been. :-) Anyone that remembers the original games will probably agree with me. :-)

“This is an incredible opportunity for me and one which I plan to grasp with both hands,” said Karima. “It’s a huge challenge to follow in the footsteps of people like Nell McAndrew and Angelina Jolie, but life is all about challenges and this is perhaps the biggest one for a model and actress.”

“Karima has all the assets needed to accurately portray the world’s favourite female action hero,” says Matt Gorman, Brand Controller for Tomb Raider. “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend sees Lara at the very height of her powers this makes Karima the seventh and most important Lara Croft yet.”

Angelina has finally been “out-Lara’d” :-) YAY! :-)
