Everyone knows I’m a massive Firefox freak. Its been that way since the day of the Phoenix alphas (and earlier given I used to use the early Mozilla Suite after Netscape ‘freed’ it) and its no secret I’m also a massive fan of Google. :-)

Well, now Google are allowing International publishers to be a part of that very special Referral campaign to convert more people to Firefox, and while they’re at it, get the Google Toolbar too. :-)

So, instead of keeping the Google Adsense referall banner on this site, I’m now going to go with the Google Firefox referral program. :-) It may mean less money, but its for an awesome cause. Getting people OFF Internet Explorer is my primary objective.

Anyone that visits this site using IE will notice several things.

  1. The site looks like crap in IE. It doesn’t display properly at all.

  2. There is an annoying massive banner that pops up over the top of the page that says “This site doesn’t work properly in IE and you should use Firefox!”

That big banner stays for now… Kinda. I’m going to be replacing it with Google banner I think. But I’ve also got the Firefox banner in the sidebar now.

The biggest reason I’m glad for this is that Firefox 1.5 is due for release a few hours or so (48 at most) from now. If you haven’t tried it already, its an absolutely fantastic platform and I definitely recommend getting it. If you get it before the final release, it’ll still upgrade itself automagically when the new version arrives.

No, my name won’t be in the NY Times this year ;-) But there is an almost as big marketing drive planned. Think Apple’s Switchers, but better. A whole lot better. For the people, by the people as they say ;-)

Anyway, when that goes live, expect me to start writing up a bunch of Firefox posts again. Also expect me to put Firefox campaign links and information all over this site (and every site I own) as of Wednesday (Midnight NZDT) 30th November.
